The inside of your Indianapolis real estate is just as important as the outside, and you want a home that feels warm and familiar. One thing that can easily accomplish this for you is the inclusion of wall hangings in your home. Whether you are looking at paintings, portraits or posters, wall hangings can breathe excitement and color into your home and life.

The first thing you want to consider when sprucing up your Indianapolis real estate is the amount of wall space available. You don't want to clog your rooms with hangings, so make sure you've properly measured out enough space not only for your hanging, but for space around your hanging as well. Also, consider its proximity to the ceiling and floors. You don't want something too high or low, otherwise it will feel off.

Second to consider is the wall you are hanging on. What material is your Indianapolis real estate made from? Are you working with sturdy wooden walls or plaster, and where are the studs in your wall? You may want to invest in a stud finder before hanging your portraits to make sure you're not ripping plaster when hanging.

Also, when hanging, what are you using to secure your portrait to the wall? Nails are the old standby, but they tend to slide out of the wall just as easily as they go in. Also, screws may tend to hold better, but if your walls of your Indianapolis real estate are thin, then screws may just result in plaster ripping out instead of a simple nail. Keep in mind the quality of your wall versus the weight of the picture being hung.

If you are concerned about the walls of your Indianapolis real estate, then maybe wall hanging hooks or nail braces are in order. Nail braces can be found at any department or hardware store and can use leverage to keep you pictures in place. The nice thing amount these is they provide an easier way to hang your portraits, the negative aspect is they tend to stick out of the wall further than the average nail or screw.

Finally consider the visibility of your hanging. Just because you have the space in your Indianapolis real estate to place a picture, that doesn't mean it will be seen. Look at the layout of your furniture and other items, as well as light and traffic. Make sure your picture is easily enjoyable by all when hung.

There are many ways to spruce up your Indianapolis real estate, and hanging pictures is just one of many. Take these and other factors into consideration when placing your hangings, and most importantly, make sure the hangings are ones you're happy with. Remember, it's your home, so make sure the pictures you place are ones you enjoy looking at. The nice thing about wall hangings is that if you ever get bored, you can always replace them. Considering how many things you can't easily change, this lends to the value of choosing the proper hanging for your home.
