Just a few years back if you said, "I'll just Google it" some would have asked you what you were talking about. Now Google has worked its way on ever major internet browser in the world. Browsers such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Firefox and Opera just to name a few. Hey, I'm not complaining about good old fashion capitalism at it's finest. Yahoo and MSN and countless others are barely a memory to most. So whether you are a small business or any other work from home business opportunity, Google is the search engine of choice.

Google makes a ton of money

So why do I dislike Google making a lot of money? Simple I don't have any landing in my bank account. My email inbox is flooded with others about how I can become rich using Google this or that. Don't get me started! If you could get rich using Google would you sell it to me for any price? Come on now you know what they say, "If it sounds too good to be true it probably is". Internet marketing has targeted every work at home business you can think of. Which Google is more than happy to get a piece of the action.

Google doesn't explain how web pages are ranked.

When you do a search for a subject on any search engine, most of us have no clue about how it all works. Many have great ideas for a website. Could be a store front business, web based business or whatever it may be. But if your website lands on page 1521 of the search engine placement you might of well close down your website. If you are like me, I usually won't go pass the third or fourth search page if I am looking for something on line. So in order to improve your marketing, you must know the latest SEO (search engine optimization) techniques.

Google changes the rules without warning.

I understand that Google has to make changes in the way it has to do business. If someone has a way to artificially get high page ranking on the search engines then they must come up with new stricter guidelines. But at least give the honest guy a heads up before you pull the rug out from under his feet. It's the marketers that try to get around the system that make it hard for the little guy to compete. So no matter whether you are a store front business or a home based business, it makes it hared for you to make money online.

Google buys up other services.

Ouch! I have no problem with honest to goodness competition. But key business sometimes is not in the best interest of the end user. When any company has the larger share of any market, they can control the cost and price of that market. Of course they can demand higher quality and a higher price as well. Such monopolies were frowned upon in decades past. Only time will tell.

Google drains your advertising budget with Adwords.

Open up a google search and see what shows up on the colomn on the right hand side? Better wake up they are all paid advertiser. These are people who paid on the word you typed on your search. This is called pay per click advertising. Used almost exclusively by those into affiliate marketing. Believe me, it can be quite expensive if you don't know what you are doing, you can lose a fortune and barely break even.

Google uses PPC business model to confuse the masses.

This is called return on investment. If you pay $1.25 per click and it takes 100 clicks to sell you product or service can you make money? Your product better sell for more than $125.00 or you will be broke soon. Otherwise your internet based home business will never get off the ground.
