After watching the movie Sicko and how the health care system is being run in this country, it accrued to me its time for chance. In fact I didn't think the health care system was that bad in this country at all till I watched the movie.
A Prescription For Change
Every resident in the United States should be entitled to free universal health insurance, the government need to act on this as soon as possible. The health insurance companies must be abolished and the government needs to regulate pharmaceutical companies and make them all like public utilities. The health insurance industry have got away without being prosecuted for letting people die everyday.
Health Insurance Companies
It never occurred to me that things like families moving out of their homes to go and live in a cellar just because the deductibles where too high on their medical insurance and they couldn't afford to pay. So they had to sell the family home and move out just to feed the greedy Insurance companies who rip people off with high co-pays and monthly premiums.
What about the other women in the movie who had her health insurance canceled because she forgot to put on her application form that she had a yeast infection which was completely resolved with a prescribed cream.
A man with a kidney cancer could have been saved with a bone marrow transplant which was denied by his insurance company because the family couldn't afford the out of pocket payment so what do they do? Leave him to die instead of giving him the care he was entitled too as a resident of this country.
Another case involving a women and her daughter the mother calls 911 because her daughter has a high fever and needs medical treatment straight away. When she got to the hospital the hospital denied her care because it was a none network hospital. So by the time she gets this all sorted out with her insurance company it was too late and her daughter died by the time they reached the second hospital.
What blew me away was the fact that a women in the movie was roaming the streets, the women was still disoriented and didn't know where she was or where she was going. All she had on was her hospital gown which are really thin and she was roaming the streets. Lucky someone from a shelters got her off the streets and into safety. The hospital discharged this women simply because her health insurance ran out.
Summary Our Health Care system is broken and need to be fixed by government, no matter what anyone tells you. This movie will open up your eyes to what is going on within our health care system.
