They were first noticed with their teal uniforms that matched their nickname "Marlins" or "The Fish". As a new team then, they had their beginning path with wins and losses. It didn't take long and they soon began garnering awards and championships. They have been to playoffs two times without becoming division champions. They won these two playoffs as wild cards for both times.

Important Moments and Accomplishments

They won two World Series titles. The Marlins first reached and won the World Series in 1997, which led them to set a record by reaching the World Series in their 5th season. They won four games out of the seven-game championship match. Their win also led Liv'n Hern?ndez to be awarded as the MVP for the 1997 World Series. In 2003, they had their second time to win the World Series championship title. They played against New York Yankees. The team's Josh Beckett won as that season's MVP.

The Florida Marlins are the youngest franchise to have won the World Series title. In this playoff (1997), they became the very first Major League wild card to win it all.

In 1997, they were to battle against the Atlanta Braves for the National League Championship. They won the finale match with four wins and two losing rounds. In 2003, they fought against the Central Division Champions, the Chicago Cubs.

The Florida Marlins scored their first no hitter in just their second season.

In 1997, in just their fifth season, the team won the National League Wild Card match against Montreal Expos. In 2003, they won the National League Wild Card the second time which led them to the World Series.

Aside from the two World Series MVP titles, the team players have also garnered one All Star MVP, four Gold Glove, two National League Championship Series, three Silver Sluggers, and one Relief Man of the Year awards.

Florida Marlins recent news:

The Florida Marlins will soon change the teams name into Miami Marlins. This is part of the approved deal which involves the building of Marlins Ballpark, at the site of Miami Orange Bowl that used to be just for football. The Marlins are expected to move to their new home and will be leaving the Dolphin Stadium on 2011 or 2012. The team is supposed to play their last season as the Florida Marlins in 2012.
