I often receive emails from my e-newsletter and blog readers about the ineffectiveness for certain traffic tactics and strategies I talked about in my articles.
The idea about critical mass makes sense and it applies to many things in our life. If you want to take an example from the Internet, perhaps the most obvious one is Wikipedia. It started slowly but grow into millions of pages now. People are now contributing to the social platform at a rate that is hard for us to imagine. It didn't start that way but once it reached the critical mass, things started to roll from there.
Informative, well-written articles with a keyword density of between 3% and 5% are likely to rank well in the search engines. Do resist the temptation to overuse keywords as that will work against you.
Use lame article title. If you look at the number of views on articles posted throughout the various directories you can't help but notice that they share one thing in common: Titles that are not enticing. A writer should never assume that readers will want to read their article. It is your job to make them want to read it. This is best accomplished through descriptive, call to action titles.
In article marketing, people often expect to see results after they submit one or two articles. Well, that was exactly what happened when I started using articles in 2005. The first article got me a few subscribers almost overnight. There were nothing to write home, but still results were results.
Once your article is near perfect, submit it to article directories such as Ezine Articles, Article City and Go Articles. You could also feature versions of your article on blogs and forums and in newsletters. Make sure that your author's bio box includes links to your affiliate products and website or blog so that you get valuable back links to your website.
The effort is entirely worth it though, because once you get to that level, basically you can't stop the traffic even if you want to. That's a problem to have, I believe. For now, aim high and start writing!
