This is a step-by-step tutorial series that will go through the exact steps I take when marketing my different sites on the internet with very low budget. We also speak about how to get yourself started, including all the technical details, what thought process you need to go through, etc. In future articles we will be discussing specific specialized topics.
1. Decide on your particular Niche:
Before you even consider starting on anything on the internet, decide on what your niche is. In order to do this you need to find a topic that you really like and enjoy doing, this can be anything from gardening to paragliding. Whatever it is you choose, write that down as your niche topic, as this is the business you will be doing over the internet.
Don't worry if your niche topic changes in the future, you can always start another business later on a different topic! In fact it is encouraged to start another niche topic once you are done with one. The system that is discussed will be quite straightforward and will require little time spent towards maintaining it once you have set it in motion.
2. Domain Name:
The next step is to register yourself a domain name. This will be the main name people will find your site by on the internet.
If you are focusing on the US or general worldwide audience, register a .com domain from godaddy.com
If you are looking at UK market then you can register .co.uk domains from 123reg.co.uk
3. Setting up your Hosting Account:
Once you have registered your domain name, you need to get a 'hosting account'. This is like the physical location where your website will be sitting. There is a very affordableand flexible company that you can use - hostgator.com
What I like about hostgator is that they have a 24-hours phoneline tech support to answer any questions. I found they were quite quick to solve my problems when I made enquiries. Amongst other features its quite handy they allow unlimited sites, full ssh access and cpanel with fantastico. We will be discussing at a future article how you can use CPanel alongside Fantastico to rapidly set up your automated site.
Whats coming?
You are now all set and ready to go for the next step: setting up your website. In our next article we will be discussing exactly how you can configure your nameserver, set up a blog software called wordpress, wordpress themes, wordpress plugins and changing the look and feel of your site.
