Amla fruit is acrid, cooling, refrigerant, diuretic, laxative, alexeteric, antipyretic, aphrodisiac alterant, tonic and trichogeneous. It is the richest natural source of Vitamin C. 100 gm. of Amla contains about 700 mg. of vitamin C, which is thirty times the amount found in oranges.In adition to Vitamin C, it also contains calcium, iron, protein, garlic and tannic acids, sugar, phosphorus, carbohydrates etc. The juice of fresh amla fruit is given as tonic, diuretic and anti-bilious remedy. It is also helpful in burning sensation, over thirst, dyspepsia and other complaints of digestive system.
The plant has been used to stimulate lactation in nursing mothers, also as a treatment for dyspepsia, anemia, loss of appetite, and as a poultice for boils and insect bites. Alfalfa is used as a tonic to address conditions relative to the kidneys and the reproductive system. Alfalfa has also done service as a musculoskeletal and glandular tonic. Alfalfa has a proven cholesterol lowering effect, possesses antibacterial action against gram negative bacteria such as Salmonella typhi, and it contains at least one protein with known antitumor activity.
It contains 30 times the amount of Vitamin C found in oranges. Its antibacterial, carminative, hypoglycemic, stomachic, Hypotensive and astringent action prevents infection, helps in healing of ulcers, treatment of jaundice, dyspepsia and cough and controls hyperacidity. Alma is a good Cardio Tonic and its mild stimulant action on heart helps to control blood pressure.
Acne is a skin disease affecting the sebaceous gland (glands which produce an oily secretion). These glands are especially large upon the nose where there openings from pits that are clearly visible. There appears to be an individual predisposition to the disease and is dependent on the development of the sebaceous glands which takes place at the ages of fourteen and twenty. The condition is often associated with dyspepsia, and lack of fresh air and exercise. In women it tends to become worse during menstruation.
Hypertension makes its victim a less than useful member of society. He cannot do any serious work, feels tired and out of sorts all the time. Never does he have a feeling of freshness even if he has full sleep. Difficulty in breathing may be experienced by him and dyspepsia is his constant companion.
A clear understanding of the digestive processes that go on in the human body is vital to the understanding of the disorders from which digestion suffers. The major disorder is week digestion, dyspepsia or slackness of digestive processes, which are known, in indigenous medicine as being caused by what is called mandagni.
The common diseases from which teeth suffer are: toothache, caries of the teeth, inflammation of the gums and pyorrhea. All of them are produced from common causes like improper brushing, not chewing your food properly, dyspepsia, too much of intake of refined sugar and general neglect. Of these pyorrhea is the most common and also the most serious. The regimen indicated for pyorrhea, will relieve other disorders too.
Eczema as a by-product of dyspepsia, gout or diabetes could be curd only after those diseases have been successfully treated. Children suffering from eczema as a result of in sanitary bottle feeds can get relief if kept on fruit juices or water with a teaspoon of honey added.
