Borage
Here's another herb I haven't mentioned so far. It's good for depression, a condition you don't want to fool around with. You have to be aware of what kind of depression you havethe sort that lasts for a day or two, or that hangs on for months and makes you think of suicide? If you have a mild, short-term depression, then you can take borage for it. But if you have the dangerous long-term kind, you'd best take what a psychiatrist recommends (Elavil or some other new antidepressant). Once you're on medication for one of the mental illnesses that may beset us at any time in our lives, then you're off on a great dialogue with others who take medications and with your doctor. The reaction to medications is different with each individual. Use the leaves to make a tea, and the flowers may also be used for this purpose. Pray that the depression lifts, because it's among the deadliest of all mental illnesses. Brazil Wood- Brazil wood should be purchased in an herbal shop, especially one dealing in Central and South American remedies. It's very good for anxiety and you must ask your herb doctor how he feels about your taking it. I myself have discovered Brazil wood to be a fine remedy for light cases of anxiety. If there is too much, such as I foimd out myself, then you may need a so-called modern miracle drug to take away the symptoms. That's what I've done and I feel a thousand percent better for having found the medication. Brazil wood just wasnt strong enough for me, but with yotir doctors knowledge, tries it for yourself if you're not overwhelmed with anxiety. Broom- You doesnt want to try taking this without a doctor's advice as it is used to regulate the heart. It is also used as a diuretic, but since it's a volatile plant and is qualified by the FDA as Herbalist- Unsafe, you won't want to take this without an herbalist's knowledge. But, as you can see, it is powerful and you can discuss with your doctor and herbalist its use for you if you have a heart condition.
Burdock- This plant, all of it, may be used as a diuretic, or as a tonic to purify the blood. It can be used in cooking, but it's effective for its laxative effect. This is one of those herbs that are good for a great many disorders. Among them is cystitis, but I don't think I'd try to treat that condition with a home remedy. I'd see my doctor for that. But burdock is good for a wide variety of disorders, and as a diuretic, it would be helpful for high blood pressure. However, you'd need to see a doctor for that because it would depend on what medication he prescribes. Camphor- Camphor is one of my favorite remedies as it was given to me as a child by my grandmother if I had a cold. She rubbed it on my chest and back, and since it's already a treatment for rheumatism, I got the benefit of a rubbing for that. Grandmother always carried a small camphor container in her purse, and, as women did in those days, would sniff it if feeling faint. The caution is not to take too many sniffs of the camphor because of its powerful effects. But the camphor oil is definitely recommended for rheumatic joints. Rub the oil on the affected joint and the pain should begin to clear up quickly. Centaury - A traditional remedy for gout or rheumatism, centaury flowers are what make the medication. Centaury also can be used to treat heartburnit's used in some alcoholic drinks as a bitter flavor and tonic effectand for reducing fever. It's still used in the Middle East for treating high blood pressure, and is thought to work well on depression. There many more medications to release or ease some depressions
