If built properly then the cleaning will be easier and that means maintenance will be kept at a minimum of work so the Farmer can do other chores on his property. The best thing about a properly made chicken coop is that a hen will lay more eggs if the coop is kept clean and there is enough space for them to relax and get comfortable. It has been shown that a happy hen lays more eggs. This can be more profit for the farmer or less food to purchase the grocery store.

There will be some maintenance such as painting every 5 years or so. A chicken coop that is pealing will have the hens pecking at it and possibly ingesting the paint. This is why it is of the topmost importance to use lead free paint. If the chickens consume the paint and it contains lead, then those that consume the eggs as well as the bird itself will ingest the lead. The lead will as well cause the premature death of your birds and lower mental capacity of those that consume your chickens.
