Diet For The Asthma Patients
Jeniferhobson
Asthma has been diagnosed as one of the major health problems these days and it has been seen that asthma diets and reduction of certain foods can help to prevent the attacks for the same. Basically these include simple methods and strategies through which you can control asthma as there are various food forms that lead to allergies and thus cause asthma attacks.
Attacks of this ailment can be triggered off due to various factors and hence it is vital to take control of these factors. Foods are some of the major causes of allergies and these may influence a person adversely resulting in the expression of the symptoms. Hence diet is very important for preventing asthma attacks and controlling and correcting certain symptoms of the same. Hence the patients suffering from asthma are advised to have proper diet regulations when dealing with it.
The diet for the asthma patients also depends upon the age of a person and the extent of the disease. Hence it is extremely important to take care of the age of the patient before planning the diet and implementing it. The diet for asthma patients should be very simple and without much spices and they should avoid very heavy meals. It has been seen that heavy meals put an additional pressure over the system and this may cause discomfort in breathing, especially during the night.
There are various kinds of food allergens that lead to allergic reactions, which trigger off of asthmatic symptoms. There are various kinds of food additives that lead to adverse reactions in the asthma patients and hence they should be avoided. Remember that even too much consumption of sweets leads to exertion on the system and this causes trouble in breathing. The foods that are fried and oily should be avoided along with sour food items.
The patients suffering from asthma patients should concentrate more on eating vegetarian diets rather than non vegetarian diets. The vegetarian diets exert less pressure on their system and hence can be easily digested too. The patients should also try and eat lighter and more frequent meals and have dinner at least two hours before sleeping time. This ensures that the stomach is not very full before sleeping time leading to congestion.
The diet for children, who are suffering from asthma, should also be followed strictly as these children tend to lose weight more rapidly as compared to gaining. The metabolic rate of a child is higher than an adult and thus they need more nutrition and food. The requirement of calories in a child's body is much higher, as compared to that of an adult.
The asthmatic children should be given more of proteins and carbohydrates in their diet, along with trying to maintain a balance of vitamins and minerals. These children should also consume all forms of foods, including fats, but not in excess quantities. The food should not be too oily or too spicy and also excess cooking destroys the nutrient levels of the food. Hence children and adults should eat more of raw fruits and vegetables to combat asthma.
