Alternative medicine has its origin in ancient times. Man has used complimentary health for centuries, long gone by the advent of modern science. Even early settlers around the world used homeopathic remedies and techniques to cure their ailments and diseases. The field had a comeback throughout the 1960s when individuals arose returning to an all-natural lifestyle. This was more evident when, the new millennium when people started searching for all natural and organic foods. This naturally led to individuals seeking out similar things when it came to their medical treatments.
Naturopathic medicine focuses on the body's natural healing ability. The discipline holds that greater injuries and illness could be healed using strictly natural methods such as herbs and unprocessed foods. Instead of surgery or synthesised chemicals, naturopaths prefer a strictly holistic approach to their care. Ayurveda is similar to Naturopathy, since practitioners typically recommend the use of holistic and herbal treatments for most ailments. Originating in India, Ayurveda has spread to become the prevailing alternative medicine option in Southeast Asia. Ayurveda practitioners believe that eating healthy foods that promote good digestion and maintaining a healthy metabolism will be the principal to living a long, healthy life.
Traditional Chinese Medicine, more commonly prominent as TCM in the medical community, is one of the oldest of the complimentary health groups. TCM remains one of the better-used forms of medical treatment in Asia, while being relegated to secondary or alternative care in largest of Europe and America. The largest opponents of complimentary health are career practitioners of western medicine. Multitudinous professionals suggest that alternative medicines are sufficient only as a supplementary treatment. In addition, multitudinous say that complimentary health is loosely regulated compared to prevailing western medicine, and that there are no standards or protocols to protect folk when something goes wrong. Most complimentary medicine treatments show no therapeutic claim. Sceptics of alternative medicine believe that not everyone should be qualified to practice without certified training. The call for more regulations has hounded proponents of complimentary health in the days gone by.
