1. Find a strategic business partner that is not a direct competitor. Instead look for ones whose services and/or products complement yours. Find a partner who also has the same objective. You can trade leads, share marketing info, sell package deals, etc.
2. Although not essential when first starting an internet business, you will eventually want to brand your name and business. This is a very important step and do some research reading the experts' advice before you settle on a brand and company name. Sometimes just by writing articles and submitting them to e-zines or web sites for republishing will inadvertently result in a logical, perfect brand and company name.
3. Start an auction on your web site. If you don't know how to host one, there are tons of free materials you can access online. One of the top auction sites is eBay and there are plenty of free tutorials available to you. A good marketing strategy would be to ensure the type of auction be related to the theme of your site. Visitors may be very interested in other products and services you offer outside of the auction. Auctions are very popular and you'll undoubtedly draw traffic from auctioneers, as well as bidders.
4. Remember to take a little time out of your day
or week to brainstorm. Jot ideas down as soon as they come to you. Keep a notebook handy specifically for this purpose to keep all of your ideas in one place. New ideas are usually the difference between success and failure.
5. Model other successful business or people. Don't try to re-invent the wheel. Most of the hard work and mistakes have already been done long before you came along. Don't waste your time, energy, and money. Learn from the Pro's and practice some of the same methods they used that resulted in their success.
6. Take risks to improve your business. Sometimes
businesses don't want to advertise unless it's free, but more and more it appears free advertising is becoming less effective. In fact, many of the methods that used to bring about great results are now a complete waste of your time. If you want massive success in the internet business and internet marketing, you'll have to buy some advertising in order to compete.
7. Include emotional words in your advertisements. Humans are emotional beings. We respond to words that represent feelings. In your ads, use positive words like love, security, relief, easy, freedom, happy,
satisfaction, fun, etc.
8. Ask people online to review your web site. Visit and join Forums and begin to build a presence there. Make positive comments to others about their websites and input at the Forums. Then ask for members to take an objective look at your website. You can use the comments you get to improve your web site. If people really like what they see, you may turn the reviewer into a customer.
9. Out source part of your workload. The most logical parts to outsource are the areas in which you are weak or just really dread doing so you put those tasks off. This could be detrimental to your business. Outsourcing can save you money on most employee costs. You could also out source your secretarial work, accounting, marketing, etc. Your primary focus should be on Lead Generation and maintenance, as well as developing new products and/or services to expand your business and enhance your profits.
10. Combine a product and service together in a package deal. Make sure they're related or complement each other. It could increase your sales. For example, if you're selling a book, offer an hour of consulting with it.
