Facts To Know About Rescuing A Puggle
Christy Taylor
There are many reasons why you may want to rescue a puggle. They are often sent to a rescue shelter because the family doesn't know how to handle them. They didn't do the research on the breed, they are moving and the landlord won't take pets or the owner is having personal problems. Puggles need more attention and love than many dogs and they are very energetic.
When you rescue a puggle, you'll need to understand that they have been under a lot of stress. They are animals that bond very easily and quickly with their families. They also love attention. When they are taken out of their families for whatever reason, they will be confused and upset.
Rescue shelters have found them roaming the street, abandoned, neglected and sometimes almost starving; some have been abused. They will need to undergo an adjustment period at the shelter, and then they will have an adjustment period in their new home.
Rescuing a puggle will also require the new owners to be patient and understanding. It will also take time for these dogs to trust someone again, especially when they have been abused. This means that you have to be 100% committed to working with the dog to help.
When you are looking to rescue a puggle, it's very important not to get one just because they have a story that touches your heart. This can set up for failure and make an unhappy dog worse. If you are going to a reputable rescue shelter, you will have to fill out an application and they will do a home inspection. In addition, they will ask you questions and do a background check. This is all necessary to make sure that the puggle is getting the best home. If there are more people in the family than you, they will ask for all the family members to be present in the home visit.
You might wonder why all of this is done for a dog. The biggest reason is because they want to make sure that a dog that has gone through this type of trauma won't go through the trauma again. The individuals who will meet with you are trained to know puggles and what they need, and they want to make sure your family will help and not hurt the puggle's progress.
If you are successful with the inspection, you will pay about $150 to take the puggle which is cheaper than, what you will find at a breeder. Despite their problems, with the right family, they will do just fine. Now, all you need to do is take it home and love it.
