So in order to be successful with any online business you need to be getting quality traffic to your website on a consistent basis. It is no good getting 1000 hits one day and then nothing for the next week, this will just cause your business to stutter along. Now how do we go about getting this quality traffic to our website?

There are many ways to generate traffic, some of them free and some of them paid. Neither one more effective than the other. So lets start with what I believe to be the most effective, and that is article marketing.

If you can write one article a week that is related to your business and submit this to article directories you will see your traffic slowly start to climb. So how do articles increase your traffic you may ask? At the end of your article you have what we call your resource box. Now your resource box is just a few lines about yourself with a link back to your website. So now once you have submitted your article to the directories there is a good chance that it will get picked up and used by people looking for fresh content for their websites or blogs. So now you have backlinks to your website that will grow exponentially. These backlinks stay online for a very long time and grow as your article gets distributed. The more backlinks you have to your site the more chance you have of the search engines finding you. So as you can see writing articles is very effective and best of all it is free. Now if you are not able to write or you don't have the time to write your own articles you can always hire ghost writers that will write your article for you for a small fee.

My next best method for generating quality targeted traffic is also free and this is forum marketing. There are many business forums out there on the internet. Register with about five of them. Do a bit of research on them to see if they are frequented often and that they are on topics that are relevant to you. Again your marketing comes in the form of a resource box. Now don't just post to get your resource box out there. you will be spotted a mile away by the other forum members. Read through a few of the posts to get a feel for the forum. You will find topics that interest you reply to these and post new ones with any questions you may have regarding your business. As well as being able to get your link seen by like minded people forums are a great place to learn. If you have a very small budget you should be spending your time on the forums.

Next, you can launch a ppc campaign. Do a bit of research on this before you pursue it as it can prove to be quite costly if you don't know what you are doing.

However done properly can be a very effective way to generate quality traffic to your website consistently. Work out how much you can afford to pay per click, do some keyword research and bid for the keywords that are pertinent to your business. Your budget will determine which keywords you are able to use. Once you have set this up and it is running to your satisfaction it will keep producing leads whilst running in the background.

Traffic exchanges are another one to use if you have more time than money. Register with between 5 and 10 and surf them for about half an hour each day.Whilst not the most effective of traffic generation methods does work and will produce results with persistence. Same as anything in this business, persistence is key. Remember you haven't failed until you have given up.

By employing these methods persistently over a period of time you will find a constant stream of quality traffic coming to your site everyday. Don't get despondent, don't give up and keep learning.
