A bunch of crooks, scammers and spammers who can't get, or don't want, a "real" job and are just out to take everyone else's hard earned money. Yes it is unfair, even Google seems out to get you, but lets have a look at why that attitude is there.
Many people are quite simply ignorant about internet marketing is and how it works. It is hardly surprising that people think internet marketers don't work for their money, when that is what all the ads are telling them.
"Make $497 a day working for just 30 minutes!" "See how I made $5,000 in one week without lifting a finger!" Internet marketing advertising is in some ways its own worst enemy.
Then there is the "once bitten twice shy" group. These are the people who gave it a go, lost money and are left feeling bitter about their experience. They feel they were conned, scammed, and cheated out of their money. It is not my purpose here to go into the reasons why they may have failed. Chances are they have also told, and warned, others about their experience.
E-mail spamming is another reason people have developed an anti -internet-marketers attitude. I am sure you have heard these ones: "If I get another e-mail from Pedi-paws I am going to scream - I don't even own a dog!" or "I'm a lesbian, why is someone sending me e-mails telling me how to get and keep an erection?"
My apologies to those who may market those products, but you get the idea. People get annoyed, and it makes no difference that the little "unsubscribe" message is down the bottom. Congratulations to those marketers who at least attempt to build up that little thing called communication and trust with their "list".
Spamming on forums, blogs and social networking sites is another reason people can't stand internet marketers. There you are minding your own business, enjoying a bit of sharing of information on your favorite forum with people you trust and some troll waltzes in with "Have you seen this? Check out my site!" Let's face it that is just plain rude!
Now we all know that is mostly newbie's to the internet marketing world who do this sort of thing. Maybe we could put it on our helpful list of things to do that if you see someone doing this, send them a friendly PM as a fellow marketer and put them on the right track. For their sake and for the reputation of internet marketers everywhere.
Last, but not least (and not intending to preach to the converted) let's remember that while we are running a business it is real people we are dealing with. From e-mails, to forums, to websites, to blogs, keep it honest. Wouldn't it be nice when you say "I'm an internet marketer" to hear "Really? I've heard about that. Can you tell me how to get into that?"
