1. Referral Program: Most traffic exchanges have a referral program. They very quite a bit some offer a credit bonus, others offer a percentage. The good ones pay as high as 10 levels deep. If you refer a few quality people in a short while this can generate more traffic than you ever could surfing. The key is to find the ones that offer you a high referral bonus. Most people fail to take advantage of the power a referral program can bring.
2. Minimized Surfing: Some traffic exchanges allow you to do minimized surfing. We do not condone this, but for those that do you can generate a lot of credits by simply having them run minimized in the background. You can set up five or six different surfing sites that way if they all allow it. The best part is you are not breaking any rules.
3. Sign Up Bonuses: Different sites offer different bonuses. They range from 50 credits to as high as 100,000. Some may force you to surf a few sites in order to get the bonus. Occasionally as high as 200 sites. Some sites also give you a login bonus every day. As well as surfing bonuses. One innovation I have come up for my exchanges is a revolutionary new bonus abuse page. The bonus page is inserted in a sites rotation. Then when one of the surfers finds the page they report it for abuse and get 250 free credits. It makes surfers look for this page and as a result they pay more attention to all the sites.
4. Surfing Ratio: All exchanges have a surfing ratio. The ratio usually is something like this... If you surf "A" amount of sites then we will send you "B" amount of traffic. They are laid out like 10:7 meaning you surf 10 sites I send you 7 surfers. Some sites offer membership upgrades that allow you to up your ratio. Which in return makes you more credits faster. These can be great options if you found a good exchange with decent prices.
5. Low Cost Advertising: If you have a few bucks in your advertising budget low cost advertising is worth its weight in gold. Most companies sell credits, banner ads, text ads, and paid to click ads. These are great esp. for people who surf in a ton of different exchanges. This traffic is some of the cheapest on the net.
So in conclusion you can get some decent traffic to your site with little effort or cost. The trick is finding the right exchanges, and referring as much as possible. People complain about the quality of the traffic, but the way I look at it. If your site can sell to surfers than it will definitely sell to everyone else. I use it as a testing ground for my new sites. I then can make changes and find out my base conversions. If you find the right exchanges you will get lots of traffic, and if it is one of my exchanges than your has a much higher chance of being seen.
