The region is popular with beach lovers, water sports enthusiasts and golfers, but also features a wealth of natural, cultural and historical attractions, and it would be fair to say that there is something here for everyone. Attractions include Moorish castles ? for example, the mighty ?Alcazaba de Almeria?, overlooking the provincial capital, itself ? national parks ? not least the 71,500 acres of the Cabo de Gato Naitional Park ? and ancient, whitewashed villages, largely untouched by encroaching tourism.
Almeria Property
Almeria property for sale, or rent, is available in all the shapes and sizes ? for lack of a better expression ? that are generally considered to be traditionally ?Spanish? ? from one, or two bedroom apartments, starting at around ?75,000, or so, up to luxury, three, or four bedroom, two, or three bathroom, detached villas at around ?350,000, or more.
The coastal resort town of Mojacar, for example, is one of the busiest on the whole of the Costa Almeria, but also, due to building restrictions on new developments, one of the least built-up. Mojacar property development is limited to two storeys, in, and around the town, allowing the traditional, old town of Mojacar Puebla to blend, congruously, with the more modern beach resort of Mojacar Playa, and preserve a certain amount of typical Spanish character.
Almeria property is also becoming popular further inland, where life is, perhaps, somewhat quieter, and brand new, modern developments are fewer and farther apart. There is still plenty of choice for the property investor, however. Whether it is an apartment, townhouse, villa, or rural property (in the form of a farmhouse, ?cortijo?, or ?finca?) that you are looking for, you will find all of these, traditional and modern, well-built, and attractively priced.
Albox property, for example ? in, and around, the charming village situated in the lush and fertile valley of the Rio Almanzora, overlooked by the Sierra de los Filabres mountain range ? is much sought after, particularly by those of a golfing persuasion, with four golf courses virtually on the doorstep.
Nearby, through vineyards, olive groves, and citrus orchards, is the market town of Arboleas. Arboleas property ? principally in the form of townhouses, and villas ? is popular, with those wishing to sample a more authentic Spanish lifestyle, but wishing to remain close to the coastal resorts. Mojacar, for example, is only some 30 minutes away, by road.
Property Market
The Spanish property market, as a whole, has ?boomed? in recent years, and, while dramatic price increases are unlikely to continue, prices in more desirable regions ? of which the Costa Almeria is definitely one ? are likely to continue to rise steadily for the foreseeable future. Indeed, the Costa Almeria has already proved to be one of the better areas for property investment, with returns well above the national Spanish average, not least because of its accessibility from the whole of northern Europe ? via direct flights to the airports at Almeria, Murcia and Alicante ? and much improved local infrastructure.
