"Dwell in Possibility is a famous quote by Emily Dickenson, and a fabulous reminder to where we can keep our focus and mindsets throughout our day. Most of us focus on the negativity, the lack, the scarcity, the mundane. By doing this, we are only perpetuating our state of lack or being "stuck." Do you realize that we always have a choice in how we focus our attention and energy? Why not choose to focus on dreams and possibilities instead of all the negativity that exists? I know, easier said than done...but it's your own state of happiness that is at stake here...
Perhaps the greatest challenge in the process of personal development is the reprogramming of the mind for success, to constantly operate from a platform of possibility rather than lack and limitation. Yet in this tremendous challenge lies one of the greatest mountains to overcome in life, to conquer the mountain of the mind. For those who thrive on challenges, this is the one to really go for!
It is so easy to fall back into old habits, or easier still is to get sucked into the negativity that seems to dominate our society. It takes strength and awareness to be able to see the negativity for what it is and remove ourselves from it as much as possible, given the givens of daily life. Persistence is the key. We all experience setbacks, obstacles, challenges, naysayers, big mountains to overcome, you name it...it seems to be part of the process. However, the equation for fulfillment of our dreams and the process is quite simple: With desire + vision + belief + faith + consistent and persistent action, no matter what for as long as it takes, success is inevitable. Just look at anyone who has ever accomplished anything and you can apply this formula to their success.
As human beings, we all have dreams inside of us. Whether we choose to listen to them and make them a reality is a different matter. There are all kinds of circumstances that people have, but no one who has ever accomplished anything great ever had it easy or just waltzed to the top. It is in the PROCESS of achieving the goal that we become GREAT, and in every step we take toward our goals, regardless of how small or big the step, that we take another step to unfolding our infinite greatness. When we get to the top of one mountain, there will always be another one to climb. I believe to be satisfied is to be stagnant. Not that we don't appreciate what we do with each step, but the nature of evolution is for always more and more. The soul constantly wants to find new ways of expression and expansion.
Just doing something as simple as focusing on possibilities requires no special training, workshops, seminars, books, or gurus...it's a simple choice of how to focus our attention. Take a minute right now and dwell on possibilities. Think and feel the feelings of all the things you want to accomplish and achieve. Experience how the mind just seems to fly and open and waves of joy over come you. In this very moment, you can see the power you have over your mind, rather than the mind over you. I believe limited and negative thinking should be considered a disease that dominates the majority of the planet, but fortunately times are changing. We are becoming increasingly aware of the power we all have to choose and create how we think and operate in live, and this is really exciting!
We always have a choice, in what we do, in how we respond, everything. Think about it. Sometimes our lives are so automatic and routine we feel like robots going through the day, just drudging along, frustrated most of the time. Yet since we choose and create our situations, we have only ourselves to blame or congratulate. It comes down being reactive to what life seems to throw us, or proactive in creating what we want out of life. Most of us are reactive until we learn how to be proactive, and this is a process that takes time, consistent work, and education to accomplish. However, the simple paradigm shift begins when we take full responsibility and accountability for every aspect of our lives, rather than being the victim and blaming others and circumstances for our situation. This is a very powerful place to begin, and can be applied to all areas of our lives: finances, health, relationships, etc. This is just another way in which to see how we have power to use our minds to create our desired day-to-day life the way we want it to be.
Those of us who are into personal development are a unique bunch. We are insatiable when it comes to always wanting to be better, experience more, accomplishing more, living more. May we all accomplish our wildest dreams, and especially the dreams we cannot even imagine yet!
