What To Look For In A Sponsor
Mree Vu
Many times, affiliates fail in a home business, not because of the opportunity itself, but rather because of the sponsor or the person that brought them into the business. Don't be taken in by well written copy and promises of overnight success!
Be wary when someone says that they have a "fully automated system." As attractive as that sounds to the individual who doesn't want to talk to people, it's unrealistic. Most home business opportunities are customer based. That means you have to talk to people at some point. Even if people are coming to your website to purchase a single item, customer service may have to get involved because of disputes or returns. When you sponsor or sign up someone to join you in your opportunity, that person is expecting to be trained. They have every right to expect your time and expertise. After all, you said you would teach them to do what you do and be successful.
But oftentimes, people who are only doing their opportunity for the money forget about the people they bring in. They are only thinking about the "right now money" and not about the longevity of their team. What happens next is anyone's guess. The new member of the team feels they have been mislead and are often left to flounder and then ultimately fail and quit.
If you are considering home business and are looking for a sponsor, here are some tips to keep in mind when you are researching.
First and foremost, DO YOUR DUE DILLIGENCE. Don't come into a business after talking to just one person. How do you know you're getting the whole picture? Talk to several people in the same business and see what they are doing to become successful.
Can they provide you with the necessary training to get you started? Ask them to show you their training techniques. Do they have multiple marketing techniques? Can they answer all your questions? Are they knowledgeable about the opportunity? If they talk around you and evade your questions, that should raise flags in your mind.
In doing your research it's not necessary to ask someone to show you their paycheck. It's unprofessional. Ultimately you're asking them guarantee your success. Their success does not guarantee YOUR success.
There are no guarantees! If you are looking for a guarantee, then you may be better off in a 9-5 JOB where you receive a paycheck biweekly. In addition, if someone does show you their paycheck, how do you know it's real? Anything can be simulated.
That they are not the top income producer in their company doesn't mean they aren't successful. If they can show you how to market by offering you resources and their time, that's almost better than signing up the top person in the company.
Here's what I mean. Yes the top earners in any business have big teams. It shows they are successful at closing. But can they give you the time you need with them to help get you started? Sometimes their team is so big that it's hard to reach them. You can get lost in the shuffle.
So don't count out the little guys in the business. Although they may not be the top income earner, you can learn a lot from them if they are willing and a good coach.
If you haven't gotten it by now, what I'm trying to emphasize is that you MUST do your research on the company as well as the sponsor. Ultimately it's your decision. Sign up with someone you are comfortable with and have a good report with.
