How To Get Over Chronic Fatigue

This common health problem represents a weakening of the body's ability to respond to stress. In response to a stressor the body undergoes, according to Dr Hans Selye, three stages of adaption. Stage 1 is the alarm phase. Stage 2 is the resistance phase and stage 3 is the exhaustion phase.

The Importance of The Adrenal Gland

When the body is met with a stressor, its reactive mechanism to this stress lies in the adrenal glands. The alarm is raised and there is an increase in hormonal activity. If the exposure is repeated again and again, the glands adapt to this continuous stress by increasing in function and size. This cannot continue indefinitely however. The glands become exhausted and adaption cannot be maintained.

Patients usually present themselves in stage 1 or more commonly stage 3. The relationship between the stress and the alarm reaction may be obvious but the symptoms of the stage 3 patient often appear to have no clear cause.

For instance a patient who presents with various allergies may have been in the resistance phase for some years. When the adaption fails, nothing can be found to account for the symptoms.

Symptoms of Chronic Fatigue

Symptoms of chronic fatigue are considerable in number because the adrenals are involved in so many body processes. These can include exhaustion and fatigue, sensitivities to chemicals and the environment, mental health problems, bad circulation, digestive disturbances and more.

Treatment of Adrenal Syndrome

Treatment of adrenal syndrome should work on two fronts. Firstly, stress reduction and secondly direct support for the adrenal glands. This includes cutting back on sugar and refined carbohydrates, and the gradual withdrawal of stimulants such as alcohol, caffeine and tobacco.

Nutrition Support

In terms of supplemental support the most important are the B complex and C complex vitamin group. Protomorphagens of raw spleen and adrenal supplements that contain RNA and DNA of these organs can be used eith good effect to promote recovery.
