With these tough economical times, we try and find the best deals possible at our local grocery stores. If you like poultry then roasted turkey legs are the way to go for your next meal.

Typically, most stores sell the turkey legs in packs of 3. The prices usually stay below $3.50 a package. So if you have a family of 6 you could feed them for under $7.00 for a meal. That's a great deal!

Below is a wonderful recipe that your children will eat up.

You will need:

4 Turkey legs
1/2 cup salt
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups white wine(optional)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup molasses ( yeah the trees are still runnin' a little slow)
1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
1/2 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
4 tablespoons dried sage leaves crushed up
4 tablespoons dried thyme leaves crushed up

Get a large resealable bag. Place all ingredients into the bag, including the legs, add in water enough to cover the legs. Now comes the fun time, waiting. You must marinated the legs for 2 hours or more so that the flavor can be absorbed properly. When you have waited the allotted time, take them bag out of the refrigerator, it is now time to give them their name sake roasted turkey legs. place your legs into a large skillet. Cast Iron works great for this. Heat the oven to 325 degrees. Time to brown the turkey. You will need to place the pan on the stove stop, turn the burner on to medium-medium high. You don't want the skin to be not to get the skin real dark, this will dry out the legs. You want them a nice golden brown, once this has happened, place the entire pan into your oven and continue to cook the legs for 45 minutes. To garnish your roasted turkey legs, you can take some of the dried herbs and sprinkle them over each leg.

You can serve this main course with many side dishes like homemade potato salad, fries, a fresh salad, corn on the cob, cole slaw and oh how about some nice black eye peas. What a great way to top a meal.

This marinade recipe is a versatile recipe. If you would like you can also grill the legs. This will add a little more flavor.

For a family of 6, you can feed everyone for around $10.00 depending on what sides you plan to make with your roasted turkey legs. The sky is the limit.
