Count My Sins

By: Satish Verma

Blue, little light,
homeless cloud,
inauspicious aurora,
I am going to opt for a moonless night.

Do not care for living soul,
pay homage to dead.

Is it not a dog's life,
or a holy god's life?
The role and meanings are reversed.
Now a snake comes,
becomes an angel.
I am going to lay down my arms
in a sleepless night.

How do I recite a poem;
when I bend down on knees,
to pick up the prayers of a fallen hero ?

The street was full of signs and names.
My truth was lost here in a crowd,
I could not speak then and there,
cannot recall them now.
I look back and count my sins.
