World of Warcraft Bots - What You Need To Know About Them

By: Johan Krost

There are dozens of people out there who just dont have the time or want to put the time in to build up their characters the old fashioned way. There are scammers, hackers and cheaters and in World of Warcraft, where everyone interacts with everyone else, it can be slightly upsetting when someone goes out of their way to bypass the rules.

For that reason, the use of cheats and hacks has been expressly forbidden by Blizzard since the game first arrived. Clearly outline in their Terms of Service are reasons for this ban and the rather harsh penalties for anyone who breaks the rules. However, despite the careful use of blocks on many of the early cheats and hacks, World of Warcraft Bots are still in full use.

A bot itself is basically just a piece of software that automatically interacts with the game in place of a human player. It speeds things up for a player by making it so you dont actually have to play the game, merely turn a bot on and let your character level up. Eventually theyll be strong enough and have enough gold that you dont need to worry about the boring lower levels of the game anymore.

New players to the game can quickly and easily reach level 70 then without putting in the dozens of hours everyone else has so diligently spent on their characters. For their part, Blizzard has spent recent months working extra hard to ensure that the use of bots does not become a bigger issue. They have banned thousands of gamers for using them. However, this does not stop the wide spread use of bots, it only makes the bots more advanced and slightly harder to detect.

It also brings in other third party activities, such as leveling services and gold buying, something Blizzard equally dislikes, but has a harder time tracking down and stopping. Theyve now made it so you cannot share your account with anyone, trade your account, sell your account, or anything else that involves moving items from the account youve paid them to access, to someone else. It all breaks the ToS and will get you banned from the game.

The reason why this information is so important is that everyone clicks on those Terms of Service every day when they log on. Most people havent read them at all and for some people the prospect of leveling up so much faster is very enticing.

Unfortunately, its also very dangerous and can lead to a very quick and surreptitious deletion of your account. Somewhere in there though is a huge section outlining how easy it is for cheaters and bot users to get the boot from their service, something you should be aware of, especially when youre sitting their wondering if there is any way to get through the game just a little bit faster.
