Anger and Ego

By: Leslie Patton

Anger and Egotism go hand in hand. Anger is a state, a strong emotion; a feeling that is oriented toward some real or supposed grievance, and can be used well as a manipulative strategy or let me break it down for ya Anger: Caused by negative ego thinking rather then spiritual thinking.
Now I know what you are going to say, Look, don't tell me that I don't have the right to get angry when my husband asks me if I made a three year old mess in the bathroom with the toothpaste, It is understandable that you would want to defend yourself for being that mature adult, what I am talking about is that habit that you form in your life and get caught up in for years and years. The obsessive compulsive actions that result into you bursting into flames feeling fire all over your body, spitting as you scream stupid ubsurdities from your mouth as you have something black stuck in your teeth that the other person can clearly see, making you look even more hidious and out of control but you usually feel more justified by the second defending yourself down to every last speck of spit.

It really gets bad when you start realizing this horrible damaging cycle that you have stuffed yourself in and start listening to the things that you say, but realizing this isn't enough. As you listen to yourself yell, watch yourself throw things after it is all said and done, you are saying to yourself, "I sound like an idiot" and you know that the last two hours of negativity were emotions caused by your lack of contorl and attempt to regain it or you would have shut up 2 hours ago. Before you know it horrible things were said, over and over again, you feel unworthy of forgiveness, because you are so ashamed, so you decide to start building this wall, later on allowing you to become defensive with everything as you start playing the victim to his horrible hell that you yourself created, all because of your an inflated feeling of pride believing that you have superiority to others. By the way that last sentence was the definition of ego in case you were slow on catching that one :) Its ok!Ready to Quit this????
I was always the one that had to have an answer for everything and I have concluded that this has had a big part in me not understanding math, anyways... Sometimes by looking up the word helps a lot, because if you can explain it to yourself, if you can just get the words out, just see an explanation it helps you recognize these things. "You cant change what you don't acknowledge". Something I came across one time, it said, "Give up your obsessions about the wrong. Uproot mistaken beliefs that underlie your response. Very often anger is the result of beliefs that lead you to place unreasonable demands on circumstances, such as the belief that life must be fair. The belief that you are entitled to fairness results from the mistaken idea that you are special. Now you know that you are special so don't go that direction, but you need to realize that you are accomplishing just the opposite of your intent. This action is going to get you no where, what has been the payoff so far? Humble yourself, slow down, recognize that you are your most powerful when you are feeling your most powerless.
