Skype Phones - Sky is the Limit

By: Dennis Jaylon

With the way technology is progressing at breakneck speed in all spheres of life, there is hardly any surprise factor left to be amazed at newer developments. However, the development of the Skype phone comes across as one development that would be the subject of discussion and adulation for a long time.

As a technological wonder that came to life at the behest of the Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology, the Skype phone had all the makings of a winner. Working on the principle of conversion of analog audio signals into digital data to be transmitted over the Internet, the phone offered superior quality over regular telephones. The software based phone, which was one of the three ways to communicate through VoIP, made it possible for Skype users to make and receive calls over the Internet quite conveniently.

One of the biggest reasons behind the unbelievable popularity of the Skype phone was the platform to communicate absolutely free of any charge with other Skype users. However, to make a call to any regular phone or other phone required the Skype user to pay on a per-minute basis. This cost effectiveness, coupled with the seamless relay of voice signals was the winning edge for the phone.

To spice up the Skype experience even further, users of Skype phones were now bundled with several accessories like cordless Skype phones, Skype headsets, USB Skype headsets, Skype adaptors, Wi-Fi phones and Web cameras. It is pretty clear from the evident happenings that this Internet phone is heading towards a new level, which leaves much for us to ponder on what its next step is going to be.
