How to Set Up New Mobile Phone

By: Ian Ball

Everyone gets excited after buying a mobile, whether he is a teenager or a matured adult, it doesn't really matter. But there is a significant difference between getting a new mobile and setting it up perfectly to work in a proper manner. Don't get panicked, as it is not a tough job though. Let us assume that we have an existing SIM card and it is only the handset that we have bought one new. So we need to set up our new mobile phone with the existing SIM card. Let see how.

Step One

As we all know that the SIM card is the most important element of our mobile phone. Primarily it is used to make and receive calls. One may store his contacts even within the SIM card instead of the phone itself. So it is always advisable that we should reassign all the contacts to the SIM from our address book before we do change our handset. The SIM card will work as mediator for transferring the names from the old phone to the new one.

Step Two

Now we have to remove the SIM card from the old set very carefully. We should allow our new phone to be on power so that it can be fully charged. Now we have to insert the SIM to the new mobile very carefully and make it locked with the clip.

Step Three

Now we may switch on our new mobile. It may take a minute or two in order to connect to the network. Right now the phone is able to receive and make calls depending on the balance left in the mobile. But certainly not all the features like messaging or GPRS system are configured yet, without these features we may not experience all the funs and facilities related to text messaging, multimedia messaging or mobile internet.

Step Four

However, in most of the cases, the process of this setting is largely automated in nature for which we may count on the necessary settings done by the respective networks. For this purpose, it is better if we visit the corresponding websites for the particular network and follow the instructions mentioned there.

Step Five

For SMS setting and GPRS setting, if we enter our phone number in the respective network website, they will send the required setting to our mobile phone via text message. All we need to do is to save it to settings. And then we need to save the settings. After that, if we want, we may delete the text message as well.
