By: Vikram Kumar

Are you familiar with toner cartridges? These are the containers which hold powder-like substance in copiers, fax machines and printers. This cartridge has a fuser which is responsible in melting the powder to create prints on a page. Laser toners are usually black, there are also several color laser but these are very expensive compared with inkjet cartridges.

There are more and more users of laser printers these days because it has more advantages compared when using inkjet printers. One of which is the cost per piece using the laser printer. With the laser printer, there are more outputs made and cheaper cost per piece. Another is that it is faster with regards to its printing time and lastly, it is compatible to most types of papers. The initial costing for the laser printer is usually high but in the long run, it turns out to be more economical and practical in terms of printing.

There are several types of toner cartridges. These are OEM laser printer, compatible toner cartridges, remanufactured toner cartridges and toner refills. Among these types, remanufactured ones are the most widely used types these days. There are already several companies that are into remanufacturing and recycling the cartridges.

These companies have been undergoing several steps which are important in recycling the laser cartridges. Here are the steps that they follow to ensure that they produce the best remanufactured cartridges.

Disassemble the cartridge apart and check each piece individually. Ensure that all damaged and worn-out pieces are removed and disregarded.

Remove old toner inside the cartridge by vacuuming it. With the use of an ultrasound, clean all major parts properly.

Change all worn-out pieces and components.

Change the photo drum. This is the piece which is responsible in transferring data from the memory to the paper. This is a very important to check component very well because a small tear can affect the output. It is a sensitive part, it only works efficiently for one to two uses.

Add new sets of cleaning and regulating blades. These are the 'windshield wiper' of the cartridge. These are very important parts. The regulating blade is responsible in controlling the toner that reaches the drum while the cleaning blades are responsible in scraping the excess toner that comes from the drum.

Fill the toner cartridge with quality toner.

With the use of gasket, cover the toner cartridge to prevent the powder from spilling into the printer.

Test print using each cartridge which was refilled. Make sure that each functions well.

Put label and date of manufacture in each toner cartridge. Seal with anti-static light blocking bag, this is usually the black bag.

Put it on its individual box. Include additional inserts to keep it safe during shipping. Sample test print and installation procedures are also included inside the box.

With these detailed steps, it is ensured that the output from these companies passed the quality that is required of them. All the remanufactured toner cartridges can function as well as the original laser cartridges, originally installed in the machines.
