Slow Broadband Downloads are Over- the Grid Has Arrived

By: Karl Bantleman

The public have been victims to the success of the internet as the time it takes to download music and films seems to be increasing by the day. However, all this is about to come to and end with the arrival of "the Grid", this system will allow customers to download items up to 10,000 times faster.

The reason broadband runs slowly sometimes is due to the cables that are used to transmit the information. The cables are meant for phone calls and do not have the capacity for the large amounts of data that is sent which results in slow download times. At first the system will be linked to academic institutions and research centres but eventually, it is hoped that homes will be connected.

The broadband speed test is set up to calculate the speeds that should be expected in your area and the introduction of this new system will see these speeds increase considerably. For entertainment purposes, you will be able to download an entire collection of your favourite band in a matter of seconds, as well as your favourite TV shows.

Webcams are considered to be a modern invention but will seem as outdated as videotapes. The Grid will enable a hologram to appear on a screen with a clear image of you being viewable to your friends wherever they may be in the world.

Taking a scientific view to the new system; scientists will be able to share information and findings and help them solve problems quicker. The Grid has already been used to design new medicine to combat malaria, and scientists from Britain, The United States and Canada recently launched a project to fight smallpox.

All this means that finding a cheap broadband deal has now got real value so find the best of them by shopping online and comparing the various providers.
