The Nokia 6300 - Power and Simplicity

By: Matt Sharp

Among the deluge of mobiles the company releases each year, its really difficult to find something substantial. But there was no such confusion at the launch of Nokia 6300, for the handset is precisely a neat nugget.

Nokia 6300 offers an impressive blend of form and functionalities. It is one of the most tactile phones in the modern market and surely makes the users fall in love with its usability. Nokia 6300 comes in a slim candy bar design with external layer wrapped in stainless steel.

This not only gives a cool sensation when being touched, but also provides a satisfying sense of solidity. Navigation becomes easy with sensibly-spaced four-way rocker switch and Enter key, while the keypad is sufficiently large for heavy-duty texting. The screen is also large and the icons and messages are perfectly legible.

In terms of multimedia functionalities, Nokia 6300 offers 2-megapixel camera and MP3 playback. The player supports all popular music format and comes with an integrated FM radio as well. One of the noteworthy feature of Nokia 6300 is its Push to Talk feature. One can simply get connected to the compatible sets and turn the device into Walkie Talkie. The only catch being that one has to go through the overly convoluted sign-up process for getting started.

Nokia 6300 is a user's delight. Most of the Menu options are within one or two clicks, and there are not too many vertical menus to scroll through. Further, most of the daily used functions can be activated by pressing a certain direction on the four-way rocker.

Thus, the Virgin Mobile Nokia 6300 surely represents an evolution of the modern monoblock design and ergonomics. As said by Kai Oistamo, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Phones, Nokia, "Like an impeccably tailored suit, the Nokia 6300 is perfectly proportioned, always in style, but best appreciated for its attention to detail."
