Mobile phones have become best electronic companion for many people. Besides making and receiving calls, present day phones also perform a number of other useful functions like taking videos and sending messages. Most current mobile phone offers support wireless Bluetooth connectivity that gives users faster data download rates. The devices come with very large memory that can store more than 1000 songs in it. Samsung's Ultra series of phones are best known for their slim shapes and light weight. The Ultra series phones generally weigh less than 100 gm and are comfortable to hold in hands.

Slider phones have become new craze among mobile users. These handsets need to be slide opened to access their keypads. The devices are usually equipped with a full QWERTY keyboard and a touch sensitive interface. The user need not hard press any keys to activate various functions of these phones. The devices sense the touch of the user's fingers and executive the desired functions. The intelligent T9 text input application of current handsets automatically corrects errors of typing and grammar while the user types texts into them.

Almost every model of latest mobile phone can be availed under some phone deal. One can also acquire these handsets under some contract with the network carrier. Two types of contract phones are widely used by people. These are 12 months free line rental and Pay As You Go Phones or Payg phones. To acquire a 12 months line rental phone, the user will have to sign a contract with a network carrier to use its services for a minimum period of 12 months. The user is offered free talk time, free text messages andsubsidised call rates by the network carrier during the period of contract. One can also extend his contract with the network carrier if required.

To acquire a Payg phone, the user will have to buy his own handset and phone card from the market. The user can purchase a phone card of the value that best suits his or her requirements. The talk time is deducted from the user's available balance whenever she or he makes a call. The user has to deposit some credit to his phone account every 90 days to keep it active. The phone gives user complete control over his talk time.

Some people like Simfree phones. These phones are sold by retailers without any sim card. The user is at liberty to choose his own network carrier and change the same as often as he or she wants. The Sim free phones are especially useful for those people who often travel different regions of the world. Such users can use the cheaper local network of the region they are in to make calls. This will save them a substantial amount of money in making calls.
