Prepaid or Postpaid Mobile Service

By: Ian Ball

In this day of high communication needs, it seems no one goes without a cell phone. But the usage pattern of every user has a direct influence on his expenses. So as well as choosing top mobile phones,
the right cellular plan is very important to keep the expenses to the minimum and derive the best out of it.

The first question that comes in front of us is whether we should choose prepaid cellular service or postpaid cellular service? Well, this is a vital decision for most of the users.

Benefits of prepaid plans over postpaid plans:
1.You are never in any obligation to pay fixed monthly bills or rentals. Recharge your prepaid account as you like or you can even stop using the service without any formality.
2.Recharge your account with as much as you like. Now with small recharging options you can recharge with as small as Rs 49(7 days validity) and stay connected. You can also recharge with a definite amount and be a life-time user and stay connected for 6 months with just one recharge until the end of license period of the company. Flexibility is the greatest option for prepaid services.
3.Most of the service providers give pre-activated STD and ISD facilities without any security deposit.
4. Top-up options is also provided by all service providers which gives you the flexibility to increase your balance by a considerable amount within the validity time.
Benefits of postpaid plans over prepaid plans
1.In postpaid plans there is always a greater security. You can always make calls and never need to worry about your account balance.
2.Call charges are usually less than prepaid services in most of the bill plans of all service providers.
3.Never have any head ache of recharging again and again as you can use the service till the end of your credit limit (which is generally thrice the security deposits for most service providers)
4.Most of the cell phone companies are nowadays offering "full value" plans where we can make free calls or sms of the amount of fixed rental we have to pay. we can even end up paying the rental+service tax only in any month which is great bonus

So, I have thrown light on some of the options of the two service options for cellular connection. It's you who decide which option would be the best for you. Cellular service providers in India give the cheapest calling rates anywhere. We can even make calls for as low as 99paise/min to anywhere in our country and as low as 1paisa/min locally. So with the increasing competition, the cellular companies in India have been slashing calling rates considerably to attract the price-conscious consumers of India. So let's encourage the competition after all its we, the consumers, who benefit from this.
