3GSM World Congress

The Rose Bowl is an annual sporting event in the United States which is commonly referred as the "Grand Daddy of them All" due to is long storied history and the massive size of the stadium. The upcoming 3GSM world congress could also be called the "Grand Daddy of them All" for cellular and mobile companies.



The 3GSM world congress is the place for mobile network providers, manufactures, and developers to come together and show off the latest mobile phone technology. The host for the 3GSM World Congress this year is lovely Barcelona. 3GSM Barcelona expects to host over 57,000 visitors, 1,300 exhibitors, and offer 200 keynote speakers. Last years speakers included CEO's from Microsoft, Orange, T-Mobile, and O2 to name a few.

Highlights

Highlights from last years conference included the introduction of the first WiFi phone by Skype and Netgear. This phone works on any open WiFi network and was designed to work a Skype account but can work with other VoIP systems also. The 3GSM World Congress also saw the growing popularity of mobile TV. New phones were introduced which focused primarily on presenting the best quality mobile TV for viewers. Television content producers also got involved promising quality programming designed especially for mobile phones.

- Looking Ahead

One of the hottest issues at the up coming 3GSM Barcelona is push email. Push email allows for the continual flow of email messages to a mobile phone with out the need to sign in and download email in batches. Another hot issue is the testing network signal strength over long distances. RADCOM, a network testing designer and manufacturer, has recently developed a UMTS radio analysis solution which push network testing technology past the old generation of hardware.
