Sap Business One Implementation in Chicago, Illinois

By: Andrew Karasev

Sap B1 is modern ERP with very intuitive elegant user interface, which has all the attributes of contemporary Enterprise Resource Planning System: Financials, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, Banking, Service, CRM, Inventory, Production and MRP, HR. System installation, user training initial data massage and conversion, initial balances: customers, vendors, GL - these implementing phases are relatively straight forward and reasonably easy to implement. We expect number of sold SB1 software license to be dramatically up with the release of SAP BO version 2007, which is expected in the first half of 2008. Let's review how SB1 fits to the variety of Chicagoland businesses:
1.Manufacturing and Light Assembly functionality. Chicago is huge distribution hub, where we see numerous small and mid-size businesses, where manufacturing and production are required, but only as a simple process.

We should mention here, that SB1 supports Disassembly production order, the relevant business logic is the following - you are getting returns from your customers and you should be able to disassembly final goods into parts and place them back to your inventory components shelves and bins. MRP wizard allows you to maintain purchases and replenishment or restocking for selected or all parent items, or items that you are producing. MRP wizard will give you intuitive screen where you will see items in critical, or red, those with vendor lead time not sufficient to receive and assemble by the date requested by your customers

2.CRM. If you have Sales department, where sales people need only partial access to your ERP, especially on the Customers, Leads, Opportunity, Quotation, Order and Invoice levels, you will be looking in CRM user licenses, typically priced at 50% or normal all-in-one named user

3.Data Mining and Analysis, in SB1 it is Drag-And-Relate technology. You can do discovery being manager on your own. Typical scenario is something like that - you like to see all the invoices where item A was sold and its pricing, costing and profitability: you select the item, Drag it and drop it into AR screen, or Relate it
