Getting a new television for the home is a major purchase nowadays. When you are spending the equivalent of what you used to spend taking the entire family on holiday several years ago it would be wise to ensure any decision made is a wise one.

The way that technology changes so quickly nowadays you would be wise to consider carefully any investment and try and ensure that it remains compliant with all possible standards.

Digital television (DTT) is a telecommunication system for broadcasting and receiving moving pictures and sound by means of digital signals, in contrast to analogue signals used by analogue (traditional) TV. There are a number of different ways to receive digital television. One of the oldest means of receiving DTV (and TV in general) is using an antenna (known as an aerial in some countries).

For the purposes of this article we want to take a look at purchasing a new Flat Screen Television and in this case the television in question is the LG 15LW1R.

The 15LW1R is a 15in wireless LCD and these TV's at present can be found in the region of 550 pounds sterling or 1100 US dollars. The screen resolution is 1024 X 1024 and with regards to being HD Ready the answer is yes. The LG has no scart connections scarts and the type and number of Multimedia interfaces the 15LW1R uses is HDMI and no connections are available. The type of Tuner for this TV is Analogue and the LG is available from limited outlets only.

All these points being taken into consideration, how would we view the LG 15LW1R?

First up, we would look at the picture quality and our score here would be 6 out of 10, and closely tied in to the picture quality is the sound quality and our score for this would be 6 out of 10. Taking a look at the number of relevant connections and their availability, our score would be 6 out of 10. If we take a look at the overall "featureability" our score would be 10 out of 10 and for ease of use and overall value for money we would give it, 10 out of 10 and 10 out of 10 respectively.

Taking everything into consideration our overall view of the package would be that this is a fairly unique TV due to the fact that it actually is wireless enabled and if this is a dealmaking requirement then this is the TV for you, just don't expect award winning picture quality and I wonder how the news from the local Chinese Takeaway looks in colour!

The fact is that given the wide variety of models and makes available today you should find something that suites your needs as well as your wallet. The choice, as they say, is completely down to you to decide whether to stay at the forefront of what are rapidly changing technologies and fashion or to remain part of the safer but perhaps better developed mainstream. No matter what rout you take we hope that after reading this article you should be more informed as to the correct choice with which to take.
