Tips for Getting a Publishers Interest

By: Paul Barron

To gain a publisher's interest you will have to make it very clear the benefits which your content will bring the publisher. All the publisher cares about is their bottom line. Study books on salesmanship and marketing to present an image to the publisher which is above all else. You have to market yourself like you are selling to feed your family.

Of course one will need talent to be able to ultimately persuade publishers. Talent is the bottom line when it comes to the writing business. If you have the talent then branch out in all directions and see which niche you can best produce in. Apply your passion with your writing skills to create a product of value. This is what the publisher wants to offer to the consumer.

Become a prolific writer. The more you write the better you will get. Also the more you write the more of a portfolio you will have to show to prospective publishers. Publishers want to see what kind of style the writer has. Does the material hold one's interest? If your writing can hold the interest of an ordinary reader then it should hold sway with a publisher.

Study the writing of others. You can learn much from accomplished writers. What is their approach to writing? What is the tone that they present to others? Tone is important in persuading others to continue reading your content. Remember the old saying that people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care.
