A Look at Coin Collectors Passion With Bank Rolls

By: Muna wa Wanjiru

Bank rolls have nothing to do with bread and everything to do with the dough of all those old gangster movies. You won't need to go and rob any banks for these though. You just need to go and exchange a fistful of dollars for a few bank rolls of quarters or nickels or whatever your choice of coin is and bring it on home.

You will get new unissued coins or bank rolls instead of any of the more interesting specimens that you might otherwise find, but don't worry. This is good practice for your future of coin collecting as you can sort through them to find a few interesting specimens.

In fact there are many collectors who prefer to get these bank rolls, new as-yet uncirculated coins to go through, since they feel that this way, other collectors haven't already been through it once and snatched up all the good coins.

Besides who knows, you might even be lucky and find bank rolls which have a double head or is mis-cast or some other such fault which can drive up it's worth in a few years time.

So what you should do is to keep the best of the bank rolls, along with any error coins and keep them safe against a time when the coins you hold might become rare.
