International Employee Relocation Management

If you are considering having the best category of employees in you organization and are planning on relocating people from all over the globe, you will have to consider the most suitable methods in doing so. Relocation is a part of the package that is offered to employees and you would have to select a company who will be able to see to all the formalities that are involved and also know about the various requirements for each individual no matter which country he comes from. There are a few obstacles and stumbling blocks involved in bringing employees into the United States and your relocation firm should know how to handle these problems.

The company's involvement in relocating employees

It is usually decided by the Human Resource Department as to the kind of commitment that the company would like to make to its employees on relocating them to their new environment. This package would be offered to both international as well as domestic relocation and it is best to hire an experienced service to render this assistance to your company.

For international relocation it would involve getting visas for the maximum length of time with permission to work in the foreign location. If your company is hiring a team of people and several visas like the H-2B kind are required, you would have to prove that there are no local candidates who could do the job as well. An affidavit to this effect would have to be provided by the HR department. However, most relocations for executives with a technical back ground usually have no problems with the State Department. This of course depends on the country the employee hails from.

The logistics of employee relocation

It is the arrivals and the departures that need most attention and where all the work is involved. This is specially so with the physical aspect of moving the employee and the coordination that is required with logistics.

Handling of departure and arrival of employees

For issues relating to the departure many organizations hire the services of firms that are in the home country so that even the real estate part could be taken care of, apart from the moving and packing of the belongings.

For the arrival of an employee the family has to be considered too. Often the family would like to come and choose the home that they want to live in by themselves. In such cases it is better to provide the family with a temporary residence and allow them to live here until they choose a home for themselves.

If the employees family is well cared for it will be beneficial to the organization as the employee will be able to give his best to his work and not be stressed out trying to cope with both the relocation of his family as well as the job in a new environment.

Part of the relocation structure could involve a tour of the new town and assistance in finding the right schools for the children. It is far more difficult when international relocation is involved and your company would have to decide on the level of assistance it is willing to give its employees.
