Which Star Are You Worshipping?

By: Karen M. Pina

I was reading one of the monthly newsletters I subscribe to one day, and I noticed the author made a comparison of successful Christian leaders to that of stars, worldly entertainers, actors, and singers.? The comparison contrasted the stars’ level of living and achievement as something Christians dream about and want to achieve.

After reading the article and looking around at the “so-called superstars" in the Body of Christ today, I concluded many Christians are star-struck by worldly stars.? We know that Jesus Christ is the Superstar who walked the earth over 2000 years ago, was crucified, raised from the dead, and is ever living to make intercession for God’s children.? However, we really do not have any present day superstars.? So I began to ask God to give us some modern day supernatural superstars.? He replied they could not handle it.? I asked, who are they Lord?? He replied they are: 1) those who would worship those stars, and 2) the Christian superstars.

I wrote down what He told me and mulled it over for several weeks, and then I found some crucial scriptures to confirm what He told me.? These scriptures are Job 38:7 and Isaiah 14:12-13.? In Job I learned that angels are referred to as stars.? The Bible tells us that we can entertain angels unaware.? The Bible also speaks expressly and lets us know that we are not to worship angels.? Most often when we think of angel worship we envision the worship of statues, pictures, trinkets, and having a relationship with angels.? Yes this is one form of angel worship, and I would like to suggest another.? If angels are referred to as stars and we can entertain people that are angels without our awareness, then perhaps the worship of perceived Christian and worldly “stars" is worshipping angels.? Presenting it this way, how many people do you know who worship angels?

We know there is nothing new under the sun; therefore, worshipping stars or angels did not begin in the 21st century.? The Isaiah scripture shows us the beginning of this type of worship.

Satan said that he would raise his throne above the stars of God in the 13th verse.? What is he really saying here?? There are many things he was saying in this passage of scripture, but in the context of this writing he was saying my stars will be worshipped above the stars of God.? He is also saying the stars of God will worship my stars.? Isn’t this just like Satan?? We all know that he wants us to worship him or anything instead of God.? This is the age-old trick that caused one-third of the angels to follow his warped leadership.

As children of God, our lifestyles should be the enviable ones, not vice versa.? In Matthew 5, the Amplified version, we learn we are blessed and to be envied, not Satan’s kids.? We are children of the bright and morning star, Jesus Christ.? We have righteousness, peace, joy, love, kindness, victory, and so much more than a “worldly lifestyle" of materialism.? As Christians, the pride of life, lust of the flesh, and love of the world are our enemies.? So if you have not reached “star status" yet in your church, ministry, or career, be thankful.? God is protecting you from worshipping another star.

If you have reached “star status" and realize worshipping this star is empty, and hollow, repent and return to His embrace.? Do not be deceived by stuff.? Our relationship with God is the most precious gem we can ever acquire and protect.? In fact, the kingdom of heaven is likened to a pearl of great price.

Yes, I am aware that the Bible reveals that God’s ministers are stars (Revelation 1:20), as well as those who lead others to please God (Daniel 12:3).? At the same time, they are not worthy of our worship.? Their purpose is to light the path to the “the light of the world". ?Jesus Christ superstar is the only star worthy of our worship.
