Pack These Items For Your Hospital Stay

By: Mom Index

Congratulations! You are on your way to the hospital to deliver your baby. During the next few days you will be staying in a small hospital room without the comforts of your own home environment.

Although you cannot change your surroundings or eliminate the impending interrupted sleep, limited meal options and delivery recovery, you can prepare for your stay and avoid boredom by packing some nice to have items:

DVDs – contact your hospital’s delivery ward and determine if the hospital offers in-room DVD players. If not, pack a portable DVD player and some new movie releases. If you recorded your delivery, you can relive the birth experience by watching your home movie.

Music – pack your MP3 player or a portable radio. It’s nice to tune out the distractions in the hospital with some relaxing and enjoyable music.

Magazines – catch up on the latest entertainment gossip and learn about recommended baby gear and trends.

Facial Mask – even if you don’t feel your best, you can treat yourself to a mini-spa service. Put on a facial mask, close your eyes and dream about your beautiful addition or additions to the family.

Stationery – while you are watching a movie or TV show, write a few thank you letters or connect with friends via snail mail before you return home and encounter an extra busy schedule.

Journal – document your hospital experience and your feelings about the birth and family changes. You will have a valuable keepsake in the years to come.

Manicure Kit – you probably did not deliver your baby on your scheduled due date and it’s possible you missed your manicure appointment. Give yourself a spa inspired manicure so you can feel feminine even if you are wearing a dowdy hospital gown.
