The Prada by LG or the LG KE850 review

By: Steve Morris

Touch screen phones are not a new thing and has chiefly been the domain of PDA phones such as the T-Mobile MDA Vario 2. But now we are starting to see an influx of non business phones sporting touch screen technology, phones such as the Prada by LG, Samsung U600, Samsung F700, Sony Ericsson W950i and lastly but definitely the one tipped to be the big daddy of the touch screen phones the apple iphone.

The screen resolution on the Prada is in WGVGA, which is 400 x 240 pixels to the rest of us. This is not a bad size screen for a phone of these dimensions. The 2-mega pixel camera which is a standard resolution theses days, the picture quality is not fantastic but not as bad as some camera phones. Moving images come out fine with minimal loss of clarity but the colour definition quality seems a bit low.

The ?multimedia player able to play MP3, AAC, WMA and RealAudio files as well as ?MPEG4, H.263 and H.264 video. The KE850 has a web browser with the ability to support Flash. The web browser is of middling quality and if internet on the move is important to you then I would be looking at alternatives on the other hand if you pop on the internet infrequently then this is not to much of a problem. A document viewer is also built-in that supports text, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat file types), plus an email client and messaging applications

Key Features:

  • Full touch-based Flash user interface
  • 3" TFT display with a WQVGA resolution (400 x 240 pixels)
  • 2 mega pixel camera with auto focus
  • Shoots video in WQVGA resolution
  • Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP stereo support
  • Micro-SD memory card slot
  • Office documents viewer
  • FM radio
  • Standard 3.5 mm audio adapter

Pros If you are looking for a phone with stunning smooth looks and good all round multimedia capabilities and lokks the dogs nuts then this is the baby for you, the camera is ok for grabbing those memorable moments, all in all; great featuers in a great box

Cons If you want a phone that’s going to be your business and social companion then this phone won't wear both those hats. This is a fun phone, something you take on a night out, not something that does a hard days work before.
