Acne Treatment Regimen

By: Michael Carelse

A proper regimen is an essential part of a good acne treatment. You need an acne regimen regardless of whether you ordinary or natural acne treatment. Most people assume that a good acne clearing product will take care of your blemishes no matter how you use it. It is possible to use a good medication the wrong way. The most common misuse of acne medications are caused by impatience, applying large amounts to compensate for missed sessions and a habit of disregarding instructions. Impatience is caused by the fact that acne medications tend to take time to show the desired results, therefore if you apply a bit more of the medication it will speed up the resolution of acne. Using any medicine in a way other than directed on its labeling or as prescribed by your doctor or dermatologist can actually cause you more harm than good.

Following a regimen has a number of advantages. First being that it becomes a habit, which means that you will never forget to apply your medication. By making it part of your daily routine, it will be easier to schedule into your day. On the contrary if there is no regimen to speak of, you may end up using too much or too little medication, or totally forget to apply critical medications. This is an undesirable thing to do.

Secondly, it is simpler to identify acne products which are not suited for you. We all react differently to the certain therapies, what works for your friend may not necessarily work for you. This is due to the different factors such as skin type, genes and the variety of acne comedones that we have. Also some medicine will not work well with each other. Once you have been on the regimen for a while it becomes easy to isolate acne products work better by changing one variable at a time. This way you are able to remove ineffective and aggravating "remedies" from your acne treatment.

You will not lose your patience. Most acne remedies take some time to work. Lack of patience is the number one reason why people use many incompatible remedies for their acne problem. Well meaning but misinformed family and friends are usually to blame since they have an opinion on what is the best "cure" of your acne. Giving up before your medicine has worked actually hampers your progress. You are more likely to stick to a treatment type that is working if you have integrated it into your daily regimen.

It should be evident by now that a proper regimen is not something you can brush off. Due to its dependability, focus and ability to give you the necessary patience there just is no substitute to a good daily skin care program. Equally important to using a routine approach to acne treatment is knowing the elements of a daily regimen. Are you using a regimen but still experiencing nasty outbreaks? Perhaps you could be skipping some of the essential steps! to find out what they are.
