Keeping in view the astounding success of music phones popularized by the Walkman series, Nokia's announcement of music centric, XperssMusic phones was widely anticipated. Unlike other members of XpressMusic family like 3250 or N series Music edition, the Nokia 5300 is one of the handset solely designed and marketed as a specialized music solution.

The slide design of the Nokia 5300 resembles another slider from Nokia - the 6111, but design-wise bolder and more funky. At an weight of 106.5 gm, the device feels very compact and comfortable in any pocket. The Nokia 5300 is available in two colour solutions - racy red and a more subtle dark grey. The phone is easily identifiable from a distance because of its white design elements.

Music capabilities of the Nokia 5300 is well complimented with external dedicated media player keys. The integrated media player supports MP3, MIDI, AAC, AAC+, Enhanced AAC+ and WMA formats and plays them on the headphones or the built in speakers. You can plug in your preferred headphones on the 3.5 mm jack adopter of the Nokia 5300. Beside 5 Mb of built in memory, the phone is shipped with an external memory card which is expandable up to 2GB. You can even tune in to your favourite radio station.

A 1.3 megapixel camera with 8x digital zoom is included in the Nokia 5300 for you to capture life around you in frames. It is easily accessible with a dedicated key and so that you are ready to shoot anything unexpected instantly. Video recording in supported at 15 frames per second.

This triband handset also includes the latest in mobile Internet technology including EDGE, GPRS (class 10) and HSDSC. Sending and receiving emails, Instant Messages or net surfing on the xHTML browser - the Nokia 5300 is a great way to remain connected. Sharing information or synchronizing contacts through USB, Infra red or Bluetooth with the Nokia 5300 is possible with minimum of fuss.
