Success is All bout Believing

By: Dustin Verley

If somebody told me 2 years ago I wouldn't be where I am today, I would've probably believed them. Who would think I'd be doing pretty good for myself, somebody who was once diagnosed with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyper Disorder.) But that was all part of the public school system and their own hypothesis just because I was a little bit socially active.

But the simple nature of developing my personality to believe in myself no matter what is what's helping me be successful. With that being said, here's my 4 step process to believing in yourself.

? Step 1: Think of the Results

The number one way I find it easy to believe in myself is to think successful. When I "think successful" I'm thinking of the outcome of hard work. Nothing in life is handed to you, so the only way to be successful is to believe in yourself. What better way to believe in yourself and build a better self-confidence foundation then to think of the final results.

So the next time somebody tells you that you can't do something, don't let their verbal words degrade you. Take action and think of the results and how much better you'd feel by proving them wrong.

As a side note, to my Biology teacher Mr. Cannon who said I would never amount to anything. I think this blog and how my life is shaping up speaks for itself.

? Step 2: Find Key Inspirations

Having that 1 person inspires you is all it takes for you to believe in yourself. You could have the whole community saying you won't make it, but the feeling of how 1 person believes in you will alter that emotion. That's why I suggest you always have that one person that boosts your confidence, self-esteem and inspires you to be successful. The more friends that you have on this level, the more higher your belief level will become.

For instance, as anyone and everyone would tell you, my inspiration is my fiancÃ?. She is always speaking positive and telling me just how great I can be. That's what keeps me going each and every day to work harder and keep my mind focused on success.

? Step 3: Build a Game Plan

When trying to become successful, your going to need to plan your path. That is why before you even take action towards your goal you should build a game plan. Its like playing football and your about to make the play that'll decide the game. You need to build a game plan in order to reach your goals.

With that being said, you'll also want to create a backup plan. This will be in case your first plan begins to fail. Your backup plan should always create "patches" to the risks your first plan might present. So take the time to sort this out in the beginning.

How does this develop your self-confidence? Building a game plan will shed some light on your goal that your trying to become successful at. Whenever you begin to doubt yourself, look at the game plan you've drawn up and work on it one step at a time. It also wouldn't hurt to take a glimpse at the ending portion of your game plan to know what your working for.

? Step 4: Practice Containing Your Mistakes

Back in school, when I used to get so down about things, I'd used to frustrate myself and give up. That was a major no-no. In order to keep a balanced confidence level you must know how to contain your mistakes. In short saying: Don't let your mistakes overcome your confidence. This goes back to the end of Step 3 (work on your game plan.)

You'll learn from your mistakes so don't let it bring you down. This is also where Step 2 usually comes in. Take a break and converse with your inspiration to bring your confidence level back up, it'll work wonders. Trust me.

? In Conclusion

When you believe in yourself, success is but an arms length away. So take the above steps I've provided you and put them to good use. Now keep in mind also that these are solely what has worked for me and are my own experienced steps. Results will vary and the steps may not be for everyone but it could get you on a head start path to becoming a believer in your own success.

Good luck in your journey and don't let "those people" knock your confidence level.
