Credit Card: Your Passport To Business

By: Peter Finch

We accept credit cards. This is a very popular line you see being advertised almost everywhere. You come across this line in grocery stores, restaurants, malls and shops and even online stores. Following this line is always a list of the plastic money accepted in that particular establishment to pay for transactions and purchases.

This plastic money had made a big change in the way businesses and transactions are being done, transforming the world towards a cashless society. Aside from paying for transactions and purchases, almost all services now accept charge cards. No more hassles of counting bills and coins, one swipe of your card in the card verifying machine or entering your card details and information online winds up everything.

This is quite a transformation compared to the past decades when applying for a credit card is not that easy and only a few establishments accept plastic to pay for your transactions. Now, some shops or big retail merchants issue cards offering rebates and discounts to their customers when used in any of the other store outlets.

With most of the stores and major establishments now accepting plastic money, people do not have to carry large amounts of cash with them. This means that stores or establishments who do not offer this feature stand to lose potential customers. Online merchants also accept cards and this makes it more convenient for the customers to order goods online. With this, ecommerce has blossomed, resulting to the mushrooming of e-stores and e-shops. Nowadays you can order almost all products and services online with total convenience.

As long as you are connected to the internet, a few clicks on the mouse can result to faster and quicker transactions done without leaving the comfort of your home. When something good comes out in the market, fraud, which is always associated with financial instruments, mushroomed too. These fraudsters usually operate as online merchants who advertise the same line "We accept credit cards" but their main purpose is just to get access to a customer's personal information and card details.

This is something customers should be wary of. The possibility that these fraudsters will use your card details for their own online shopping is big. You just might be surprised when you will be billed for expensive items you never bought from anywhere. Worse still, you may be shocked when you will receive a bank notice for unreasonable excess in your credit limit.

You must be careful because these fraudsters are very knowledgeable in extracting information and card details that they will be doing anything to get what they want. They may join chat rooms where they can lure innocent people into giving out their secured information.

Some computer genius may also resort to using computer programs to extract information when you key in you're your card details when paying. Plastic money gives more advantages to people most of the way but just be careful because fraudsters are out there ready to victimize you. Not all signs advertising "We accept credit cards" can do you good.
