American Express has launched a new credit card; The Blue Sky Card, which will provide users with, 1 point for virtually every ?1 spent on the card.
Points can be redeemed against any travel related purchase or experiences such as flights, hotels, car rental, train travel, package holidays and cruise packages.? For every 4,000 points earned on the Card, customers will be given a ?50 saving against any travel related purchase made on the Card.? This is equal to a 1.25 per cent cash back ongoing.
There are no limits on the number of points that can be earned, when the card is used, also, the length of time the points are valid has no expiration date, and can be used at any time.? Moreover there are no limits to the type of travel, available for Card members to redeem their points (for example there are no timing exclusions such as blackout days or compulsory Saturday night stays).
The Blue Sky Card has the added benefit of providing protection against journey delays, cancelled flights or lost luggage including, up to ?200 for lost luggage, or ?100 for flight delays and up to ?500 for missed flights, (owing to public transport delays, accidents, transport cancellations, or car breakdown) or cancelled flights.
The Blue Sky Card has no annual fee and a 0 per cent APR on purchases for six months. The standard APR for purchases is typical 17.9 per cent APR variable. A free additional Card is available for a family member, which makes it even quicker to earn points.
Tom Allder, Vice President UK Credit Cards, American Express, said: "Our strategy is to reward Card members on an on-going basis for their spending with us. We are continually looking for innovative ways to reward our Card members.
He also said: "We are expecting this Card to appeal to leisure travellers, who are not only looking to get best value for their travel expenditure but also want added safeguards to ensure their journey is a smooth one."
