How Focus Can Obtain you Star Employees!

This is an exercise that shows you how your focus has a dramatic impact on the quality of employees you are obtaining.

You may have heard the saying "you get the staff you desire". Well my belief is you get the staff that you focus on. If you are always having staffing problems, you will continue to have staffing problems, because this is where your focus is.

Straighten your right arm out in front of you and point your right index finger. Now move your arm to the right, whilst keeping your torso still. Move your right arm as far as you can and notice the point on the wall that your index finger is pointing to. Now drop your arm and relax.

Do you remember to point on the wall that your index finger pointed to?

Now look at that point on the wall and then focus on another part of that wall that is about 20 centimeters or 14 inches further round to the right.

Turning your head forwards again, close your eyes and visualise easily and comfortably moving your outstretched right arm and index finger passed the original point on the wall to the a new mark on the wall that is 20 centimeters or 14 inches further round to the right.

Now when you are ready, open your eyes and straighten your right arm out in front of you. Move your right index finger to the a new mark on the wall that is 20 centimeters or 14 inches further round to the right. How easy was it to achieve this new target?

The new target should have been very easy to achieve. This shows you that the staff you are currently obtaining are like the first point on the wall. If you want more competent, committed and compatible staff, then you have to visualise exactly what you want. By focusing on the new standard of employee you want (new mark on the wall) and by visualising what you want, it becomes much easier to obtain a new standard of employee.

The reason it becomes easier to obtain a new standard of employees is because:

- Once you identify what you want, you recognise it more clearly when you see it.

- Once you identify a new standard, the law of attraction says, that whatever we think about becomes our reality.

- More competent, committed and compatible staff become our reality (like the new mark on the wall) because we now know and believe we can always achieve a better result, so we look for ways to achieve our vision.

"The only limits are, as always, those of vision."
