Making Mothers Day Special

By: Anne Harvester

There are some people in our lives that are so important we designate an entire day every year to celebrate them and show our appreciation. Mother’s Day, of course, is one of those special days. It’s the day you set aside all other commitments and reflect on all the wonderful things your mother has done for you. By making Mother’s Day special, you have the opportunity to thank her for all the sacrifices she has made and all the love and support she has given you throughout the years.

You can make Mother’s Day special in a variety of ways. You can take her out to her favorite restaurant for brunch or dinner, go see a movie she’d been talking about, or just spend some quality time with her and the rest of your family. Whatever activities you choose, as long as you keep in the spirit of the day, you’ll be able to make Mother’s Day special and show her how much you care.

Another easy way of making Mother’s Day special is to give her a thoughtful gift. If she’s been eyeing a certain something at the mall or admiring a friend’s piece of jewelry, you can surprise her with it. If she enjoys going to plays or the opera, you can get her two tickets and then go together.

If you want to give your mom a personalized gift to make Mother’s Day special, you can select a nice or funny picture of you both and put it into a custom frame. Or, you can create a personalized gift basket with all of her favorite goodies. If she loves to take relaxing baths, you can give her a Mother’s Day spa gift package. If she’s a fan of premiums candies and chocolate, you can assemble a gift basket that includes a sampling of all her favorite treats.

If you ever run out of gift ideas for making Mother’s Day special, you can give a gift straight from the heart. One way to do this is write down a list of things your mother has done for you that you are thankful for and share it with her. Or, if there are special traits you’ve inherited from her that you’re thankful for, you can share a list of those attributes with her and the family. If you’ve got a knack for the creative, you can think about all the special memories you have together and create a scrapbook that includes pictures, letters, quotes and other items for you both to look through when you’re together.

Whatever avenue you take in making Mother’s Day special, as long as you focus the attention on her and celebrate the joy and happiness she’s brought to your life, you can’t go wrong.
