Creating Successful Online Relationships

When it comes to online marketing most people think about submitting web pages to search engines and sending e-mails in order to make people visit your website and to make them sign up with your business.

Building your network marketing business online requires much more than that. First of all - and this is very important! - You need to focus on the core of what network marketing is: creating relationships.

Creating relationships does not mean sending a single e-mail to an e-mail lead or feeding e-mail addresses in an auto responder that sends out a series of messages for you, it does not mean placing an online ad nor buying traffic or using services that create traffic to your website. These online "actions" are not wrong, but they do not create relationships.

In order to create relationships online you need to implement ongoing actions that make other people that are online aware of you as a "real" and reliable person, and someone they can recognize after a while. They need to become aware that you are a source of information that will help them for building their business and satisfying their needs and solve their problems.

Statistics show that it takes often five to ten times longer to create a relationship online than using the phone. Having said that, the internet is a great source for prospects and new people you want to have in your down line, if you plan your actions accordingly.

Being online makes you "equal" - for others you could be a 16 year old pretending to be a millionaire or you could be really the network marketing expert that you are. People on average will not trust you, until you have proven yourself trustworthy. Sometimes people even say "if you are as successful as you say, why would you be online in a chat room like this". Just stating facts by sending someone a link or posting a link on a website does not create credibility.

The "equality online" on the other hand gives even a beginner a chance to show credibility and consistency. Write articles and blogs to share your knowledge. People will acknowledge you, if you are visible not just for a quick advertising message, but for consistent support and your opinion. Show them that you care - and you will be surprised how many people will ask you for help in return!

The key for getting people's attention is "curiosity". It is almost everything for being online. If you create an e-mail address, an online chat name or a website address, make sure that you choose a name that makes people think either "what is this about" or "wow, this sounds like something that could benefit my business".

Great ways to create online relationships is in chat rooms and forums. It is very important that you do this on a regular basis, so others see your name often enough to believe you, that you are not there to advertise, but you are a real individual that is serious about network marketing. People will start asking for your opinions once they realize that you are for real!

Finally, create relationships by calling people on the phone. Seriously, it most often takes offline methods to bring people online. If you do phone prospecting, always give your website and ask the other person for their e-mail address. If you have talked to them, they are more likely to take the time to read you information, because they already know that you are a real person.
