Piero Fornasetti was a painter and interior designer in milan.Best known for his whimsical approach to design and graphics, decoratedthousands of items with motifs ranging from the beauty of nature to trompel'oeil. His most famous production line was "theme and variations', aseries of articles based on an image found in a 19th century french magazine.Fornasetti Plate was of lina cavalieri, looking as enigmatic as the mona lisa.Over 350 variations of the design were produced.

Theme and variations plates measure 10.25" diameter andare produced by hand to order in the atelier in milan.Completely handmade, the plates are still manufactured to the exactspecifications passed from piero to his son, barnaba. Limited quantities of theplates will be available. Some plates are also available with a gold background(special order at this time), as noted.

There is an enormous range of decorative furniture,ceramics, glass, and other objects. Each of pieces is entirely hand made and produced in limitededitions using exactly the same techniques and designs which are represented inthe historical archives of Piero Fornasetti. All of the furniture and mostprecious porcelain are produced in annually limited editions. Home accessoriesare progressively numbered and dated. When colour is present the signature ofthe painter appears as well. There is a vast subject range on offer, because ofthis, each year certain articles are suspended from production while newre-editions are added.
