Get in Shape for the Shower

By: Jack Robin

The big event is fast approaching. Everyone will be there.
You took great lengths to ensure a loved one's baby shower will be a memorable occasion. The food, games, gifts and decor are all prepped. Now its time to make sure you look and feel your best for the important day.
With the baby shower just a couple weeks away, consider a diet and exercise plan to help you tone up and slim down.
Before beginning any trimming regime, it is important to remember a few facts: avoid extreme diets, don't skip meals, and resist the urge to take any pills. Drop the weight the healthy way. Your goal should be to lose approximately one to two pounds of body fat a week.
To affectively lose the weight, you must sensibly reduce calories by eating right and maintaining an active lifestyle.

A healthy goal is to cut 500 calories a day; 250 with diet and 250 with exercise.
It is advised you exercise at least three times a week for a minimum 30 minutes. You must increase this amount to effectively lose weight. The program should include a combination of cardiovascular activity, strength training and stretching. Some great ways to get in all-around shape include, walking, jogging, dancing and swimming.
To maintain a healthy diet plan, eat fresh, non-processed foods. Try to consume at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Balance your menu with low-fat dairy and whole grain ingredients. It is important to maintain an efficient metabolism. This is accomplished by eating five small, healthy meals a day.
Keep track of your food intake with a diet diary. Note everything you eat and drink. Review your nutritional habits and look for ways to cut calories and opt for healthier alternatives. Consider replacing your daily latte with a nonfat option; ditch the soft drinks for flavored club soda; cut out sugary cereals and snacks.
With all this work if you still want to look five pounds lighter, just improve your posture. Standing tall is an instant slimming technique. Try to keep your head high, stomach in and shoulders back when standing and walking.
As you begin preparing for your friend's baby shower bash, make an effort to get yourself in tip-top shape. When the day comes, most of the attention will focus on the new mom-to-be. But make sure people notice the fit, new you.
